Most of these paintings are life size or larger. I love the freedom that a large format allows me and I believe it gives my models more life.
In painting figures I hope to relate the uniqueness and individuality of each subject as I have experienced them. It is always my hope to convey some of the inner beauty that percolates below the surface of their skin while capturing the outward colour and texture as well. Whether I complete my paintings from life or from photos there must be a relationship with the model in order to convey the essence of the subject. I need to know them or their story...
